House of Virtues
Overview
At Faith Academy, we want our student experience to be unique, full of Biblical values, and reflective of our mission. Therefore, we utilize what we call the House of Virtues system. It is a system steeped in tradition, backed by meticulous research, and loved by our students.
We see our House of Virtues system as a small reflection of what the Great Commission commands us to do: To go and make disciples of all nations. By placing our students in groups that they wouldn’t naturally assimilate into, we provide for them opportunities to stretch outside their comfort zone. This is what we are commanded to do in Scripture. To see the Great Commission fulfilled is to form relationships and bonds with people that don’t look like you, act like you, or even have the same interests as you. All the while, you still value who they are as God’s creation. Our House system exposes our students to these practices in formal and informal ways.
Ultimately, the House system is designed as a discipleship tool. Once a student is placed in a house their freshman year, they remain in that house throughout their High School career. Then, as siblings begin to come through the High School they are placed in the same house as their older sibling. We curate events, service opportunities, games, parties, pep rallies all with this system in mind.
Student Council
Due to the uniqueness of this system, we take a unique approach to our Student Council. Rather than assembling based on classes, we build it within each House.
These students help lead us through Chapel and Fellowship Fridays. They plan House parties and events. They organize service projects and field days.
Every spring, the House elects a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Chaplain and Freshman Representative. Each role plays a pivotal role in both the entire student council, as well as within each small governing body.
